It seems as though the approach that many vehicle manufacturers—domestic and foreign–take to performance and even muscle cars is to make them seem more mannerly. Nice. To take away any sense that once you peal away the appealing sheet metal, carefully place aside that carbon fiber body work, there is a machine under there. But that’s not the case with the GT-R.

Now Nissan (NSANY) and Kia would like a piece of that action. They are using the original xB formula and coming to market with the Cube, for Nissan, and the Soul, for Kia, both of which are smaller than the latest-gen xB, which has grown bloated and more expensive than the original box that launched the Scion brand.

Supercars have always existed to keep our passion for automobiles on constant boil, and supercars that don’t crest the six-figure mark are the best kind. They’re almost attainable. The Nissan GT-R remains that way for 2010 with a price bump to help pay for a few upgrades from the factory. The base model will begin at $80,790 and the Premium model at $83,040. According to Edmunds.com, the new MSRPs are both $3,950 more than what you would pay for a 2009 model.
